Megan Chan, MD

Dr. Megan Chan is an acute care surgeon board certified in General Surgery and Surgical Critical Care. Born and raised in Chicago, she attended Washington University in St. Louis, double majoring in Photography and Biology, before working in a research lab developing immunologic therapies against melanoma. She earned her medical degree at the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Chicago, where she served as class president and was inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society, then completed her General Surgery residency at Mount Sinai South Nassau in Oceanside, NY.

While in residency she developed a passion for emergency general surgery and critical care during the COVID-19 pandemic, leading her to complete fellowships in Surgical Critical Care and Acute Care Surgery at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, a Harvard affiliate. She joined Urgent Surgery Associates and North Texas Critical Care in 2024, working primarily at Baylor University Medical Center as an acute care surgeon and surgical critical care intensivist, and serves as an Affiliate Clinical Assistant Professor with the Texas A&M Vashisht College of Medicine and clerkship director for the fourth-year general surgery sub-internship and surgical critical care rotations. Outside the operating room, she enjoys travel, cooking, photography, and time with family and friends.
